Tennis Star Nick Kyrgios to Debut on PPA Pickleball Tour in 2025
Australian tennis sensation Nick Kyrgios is trading his tennis racket for a pickleball paddle, at least temporarily, as he prepares to debut in the sport at the PPA Tour Australia Pickleball Open. Partnering with fellow tennis pro Jack Sock, Kyrgios will compete in the men’s doubles event during the tournament in Melbourne from Jan. 28 to Feb. 2, 2025. This marks the PPA Tour’s first international stop, underscoring pickleball’s rapid expansion beyond the U.S.
Kyrgios’s entry into pickleball comes as little surprise. A passionate advocate for the sport, he is already an investor in Major League Pickleball’s Miami Pickleball Club and has been seen embracing the game in viral social media clips. While his pickleball debut promises to bring unparalleled excitement, Kyrgios isn’t leaving tennis behind just yet. His next tennis commitments include the Brisbane International on Dec. 29 and the Australian Open on Jan. 12, maintaining his dual-sport focus.
Could Kyrgios’s debut signal a longer-term commitment to pickleball? While his tennis career remains active, his participation alongside Sock – who’s already made waves in the pickleball world – could be the first of many appearances on the pro pickleball circuit. Fans across tennis and pickleball alike are eager to see if Kyrgios’s trademark showmanship and intensity will help elevate the sport to new heights globally.
